Conference 2010 Session Proposal Submission
It's not too late to submit a session proposal for AATE's 2010 Conference in San Francisco in cooperation with CETA - Playing on the Faultlines: Exploring the Shifting Ground in Theatre and Education

Go to the conference website to submit your proposal through this weekend, November 14 - 15. In order to submit a proposal, you must first create an account on the conference website - this will be different than your AATE website account. Here are some frequently asked questions about session proposals:

Proposal Submission FAQ

1. When is the session proposal form due?

The deadline has been extended through this weekend, November 14 - 15.

2. Where do I submit the proposal?

Proposals are to be submitted through the conference website. The session chair will need to create a user account on the conference website, complete the application form, and submit the proposal before the deadline. Special note: Even if you have a username/password for aate.com, you still must create a new account with aateconference.com. Your aate.com username/password will not automatically work.

3. How can I confirm that my proposal was received?

When you click the "Submit" button, you will see a confirmation screen. You will also receive an email copy of your proposal.

4. What happens if I submit an incomplete proposal?

Incomplete proposals will not be accepted for processing. You must complete all of the required fields on the proposal form. Proposals may be edited; however, if you submit more than one proposal, you will not be able to edit those submitted first.

5. How is my proposal considered?

Proposals are adjudicated by the conference program subcommittee and the chairs of the networks based on their subject matter, type of session, and the network affiliation. If you select one or more networks on the application, your proposal will be sent to the chairs of the network for vetting (each network has its own individual process for this).

While there are no guarantees, the conference committee strives to make sure that the top two (2) ranked submissions for each network are accepted. (Committee meetings and debut panels are automatically accepted and not counted in the network's top recommendations.)

Other sessions will be accepted and scheduled for the conference based on the availability of time and space.

6. I have an idea for a large panel or workshop. Should I submit it as a double session?

The proposal application includes a time request. Sessions of 60 or 90 minutes are scheduled in single slots, and sessions of two or three hours are scheduled as double sessions. Be aware that due to time constraints, your application could be accepted as only a single session, and you might have to streamline it. Also, a double session counts as two sessions in the rankings and neither the network nor the conference committee is obligated to schedule the proposal as a double session.

7. When will I hear if my proposal has been accepted?

Session chairs will receive notification from the conference planner/committee chairs no later than March 1, 2010.

8. Do session participants have to register for the conference?

Participants in all sessions are required to register for the conference. One day passes are available.

9. What is the maximum number of sessions in which a single individual may participate?

Presenters are limited to (2) appearances. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the conference committee.

10. Whom should I contact with questions about the process?

Either the conference chairs at conference2010@aate.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

11. If I am unable to submit a proposal through the website, may I download a pdf and email it in?

Yes, though online submissions are strongly preferred. Download the pdf here. Email to conference2010@aate.com or mail it to the AATE office, 7979 Old Georgetown Rd, 10th Flr, Bethesda, MD 20814.
